Scientific Interest Group

Status:Active, open to new members
Coordinator:
When: Monthly on Wednesday mornings

The Scientific interest group meets once a month, on the 3rd Wednesday morning. The group is small and very friendly, and we generally meet in our member's homes. However,  we are trying to branch out a little now and have our first "outing" in January, when we will be visiting Clanfield Observatory. We hope other visits will follow on from this.

Our usual meetings involve informal discussion, sometimes following a presentation by one of our members, or sometimes we ask each member to think about one aspect of a topic, and then bring that all together to learn from each other at the meeting.

Recently we have been looking at accidental discoveries, such as penicillin, teflon, acetate dyes, cyclophosphamide and several others. A scientific background is not necessary to enjoy the group, just a keen curiosity.
